Frequently asked questions

Whether you need urgent help with a workplace dispute or ongoing guidance with employment contracts, discover how straightforward and flexible professional HR support can be.

How does the £60 per hour billing actually work?

Support is charged at £60 per hour, recorded in 15-minute increments. This means 15 minutes costs £15, 30 minutes costs £30, and 45 minutes costs £45. Only substantive consultancy work is billed, such as drafting letters, document review, meetings, investigations, or advice calls. Short administrative emails are not charged separately, and there are no monthly retainers or ongoing contracts.

What are the common issues you help employers solve?

Most small business owners reach out asking: “Am I handling this correctly?”, “What process should I follow next?”, or “What could happen if I get it wrong?” I provide practical guidance on disciplinary and grievance procedures, sickness absence, performance management, redundancies, and fair dismissals, ensuring you follow robust processes without unnecessary complication.

How quickly can you step in when an urgent issue arises?

You can get in touch by email or through the contact form, and I aim to provide an initial response within one business day. When an issue is genuinely time-sensitive or urgent, I make every effort to respond sooner, availability permitting, so you have timely guidance before taking decisive action.

What qualifications and experience do you bring?

I am CIPD Level 5 qualified and specialise in providing practical, commercially minded employee relations support. My focus is on helping small and medium-sized UK businesses manage staff challenges fairly, legally, and calmly, using clear plain English rather than confusing legal jargon.

How do we share files and collaborate on a case?

Once we agree on the scope of support, documents can be sent securely via email or through Microsoft 365, SharePoint, or OneDrive. Advice is delivered by email, phone, or Microsoft Teams. For evolving situations, you can forward additional notes or updates as things progress so support continues smoothly through every stage.

Do you provide remote support across the UK or on-site visits?

Most HR matters can be handled effectively remotely anywhere in the UK via telephone, email, and Microsoft Teams. On-site support is available throughout Cornwall whenever face-to-face involvement adds real value, such as conducting formal workplace investigations, disciplinary hearings, or consultation meetings.

Do I have to commit to a minimum contract or monthly fee?

No. There are no retainers, no tie-in periods, and no upfront monthly subscription packages. You only pay for the time you actually use. Whether you need 30 minutes of advice on an isolated question or multiple hours for a complex redundancy process, you remain in complete control of your costs.

Can you review our existing policies and contracts?

Yes. I regularly review and update employee handbooks, job offer letters, contracts of employment, and internal HR policies to ensure they comply with current UK employment law and reflect practical best practices for growing businesses.
